Do we dare to do what Jesus told us to?

October 21, 2009
“Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation” (Mark 16: 15)

Last Saturday, 11 of us that attended YC prayer meet did something unusual for prayer meet standards. After breaking the Word (Gospel passage for Mission Sunday – Mark 16: 15 – 20) using the Seven Step Bible Sharing Method, we were instructed to act upon this mission. Everyone was shocked, and started exclaiming and commenting. But we were told that instead of proselytising, we would simply go outside church, in pairs, and ask passers-by if they had anything that they wanted us to pray for. We would then collate the intentions and say a rosary for them. This was a first-time experience for most of us. Some had difficulties - fear of approaching people, language barriers, getting avoided or rejected – but most of us managed to find at least one person that was willing to hear us out. When we got back to the room, everyone started excitedly sharing about what they had encoutered. We then prayed for each person that we had encoutered that evening and their intentions, as we said one decade of the rosary. I really felt as though we had taken a baby step towards our Christian mission, in a different way than we normally would.

“Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.” (Mark 16: 20)

do you dare tell him/her the truth?

September 2, 2009

i got hooked onto the song again. (i know its an old song)

i probably would not dare to tell the truth. its better to keep a best friend than to lose a friendship. feelings will eventually come and go…

i dare not, would you dare?

Dared to Cross

Train Crossing

Train Crossing

Have you guys heard of Train Crossing? It’s a facebook group “formed to encourage Catholics like you and me to be bold about professing our faith in public”.

It may sound simple at first, the idea of praying on the train, but try it and you may find yourself squirming. It’s an idea that’s been ingrained in my mind ever since the group got started and I joined it and I’ve been trying bit by bit to build up enough confidence to pray in public. I’m glad to say a habit’s starting to form after all those botched attempts (e.g. praying while pretending to sleep, looking to make sure no one’s watching before making the sign of the cross, saying the rosary with fingers to avoid taking out beads etc.)

I’m beginning to feel comfortable taking out my rosary and saying the entire 5 decades on the train to school, or if I need before school time to catch up on my readings, on the way back from school. Also, taking solitary rosary walks. It’s great for meditating on the mysteries of the life of Christ, and you get some exercise in too! And you know what, far from cowering from the eyes of the public, I actually feel happy when people look at me and my rosary when I’m praying.

Because I’m proud to be Catholic.

i dare myself to move

August 29, 2009

last night, i was at yello jello with a couple of my usual friends. this ang moh walked passed our table, he was so hot and the best thing was he was wearing green color! double the hot factor. anyways my friend and i came up with a dare. if he was to walk pass our table again, i would go up to him. ps. our table was next to the toilet.

anyways we waited patiently for the big moment. it didnt come. it seems he has left the pub. oh sad!

then, when we were losing hope, he REAPPEARED. he CAME BACK!! oh my gosh, it was like a GOD sign! he was dancing on the dance floor (in front of our table) with his friend. i told my friend that he went to the toilet again i will approach him. hahahahahahaha WRONG MOVE. he went to the loo. so i had to ambush him when he came out.

AMBUSH! i told myself that if i didnt do it, i will definitely regret it. so i walked up to him and said HI! and the rest was history… hahahahhahahahahahahahahaha

want to know more? maybe in my next post. bottom line: do what your heart desires, because when you do it, the reward is so so so good. it felt awesome to have done it!
ps. he is from England and he just landed that night. WAHAHAHAHAHAHA

more moves in future,
Cee
